Senior Fullstack Engineer, Freelance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Develop and take charge of essential product features - Create and implement full-stack functionalities from scratch: database structure, backend logic, GraphQL API, and React/TypeScript user interface.

• Assume complete responsibility for key components of the system: you will drive reliability, performance, and long-term maintainability.

• Engage in every phase of the development lifecycle, from design and implementation to deployment and smooth operation in a production environment.

• Contribute to and critically assess our technical architecture as we expand.

• Bring substantial backend expertise - Design resilient data models and schemas optimized for scalability.

• Build and manage backend services, including background tasks, asynchronous pipelines, and integrations with external systems.

• Take charge of observability: instrument systems, establish meaningful metrics, and address incidents with assurance.

• Proactively identify and mitigate security risks from API design to infrastructure exposure.

• Automate deployments through our CI/CD systems and consistently enhance development processes.

• Work with AI as a daily enhancer - Actively use AI tools in your workflow, from code generation and review to debugging and documentation, to accelerate progress without sacrificing quality.

• Help shape our integration of AI-assisted development practices across the engineering team.

• Maintain a curious mindset about emerging AI capabilities and share innovative ideas on how we can leverage them for improved delivery.

• Act as a team force multiplier - Lead technical design on major features and openly share your expertise.

• Review pull requests diligently and thoroughly, raising the standards for the entire team.

• Actively participate in team rituals: stand-ups, planning sessions, and retrospectives.

• Contribute to our culture of quality: implement incremental, well-tested, and observable changes.

• Uphold quality at all times - Advocate for clean code, comprehensive test coverage, and robust engineering practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience delivering products across the full stack, with a strong foundation in backend development.

• Proficient in React/TypeScript on the frontend; possess in-depth knowledge of relational databases, distributed systems, observability, and security on the backend.

• Comfortable taking ownership of features from start to finish with independence and clear communication.

• Strong plus: Experience with Ruby on Rails in a high-scale production setting.

• You write clean, well-tested code and genuinely take ownership of your responsibilities.
