Senior Financial Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Monthly accounting and financial reporting responsibilities.

• Prepare and assist in the creation of comprehensive financial statements.

• Aid in the month-end and year-end closing processes.

• Ensure the precise and timely generation of monthly financial reports along with supporting schedules.

• Provide variance analysis against departmental budgets and highlight significant financial trends.

• Review Profit & Loss accounts to confirm appropriate coding, allocations, and classifications across departments.

• Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly.

• Assist with accruals, prepaids, intercompany transactions, and other month-end accounting entries.

• Help ensure that accounting records are accurate, complete, and properly documented.

• Revenue recognition and SaaS accounting support.

• Aid in reconciliation processes concerning deferred revenue and unbilled Accounts Receivable.

• Assist with revenue recognition for SaaS subscriptions, usage-based, recurring, or contract-based billing models.

• Review revenue-related information to guarantee accuracy, completeness, and adequate support.

• Assist with accounting treatments related to SaaS, technology, or recurring revenue operations.

• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies related to revenue, billing, or reporting.

• Reconciliations, compliance, and accounting operations management.

• Maintain accurate reconciliation schedules and supporting documentation.

• Aid in managing accounting processes concerning fixed assets, including additions, disposals, amortization, and depreciation.

• Support equity-related accounting processes, including stock-based compensation or ESOP-related accounting when applicable.

• Assist with sales tax and economic nexus research across U.S. states and international jurisdictions.

• Prepare and maintain sales tax working papers and supporting documentation.

• Support year-end close, audit requests, and compliance-related processes.

• Process improvement and finance operations contribution.

• Participate in finance team projects, system enhancements, and operational initiatives.

• Identify process inefficiencies and proactively suggest scalable solutions.

• Support workflow optimization as the company grows.

• Conduct independent research and resolve accounting issues, reconciliation discrepancies, and reporting inconsistencies.

• Help strengthen documentation, internal controls, and accounting processes.

• Cross-functional collaboration with various teams.

• Collaborate with Finance leadership and department heads on budget reviews and reporting analysis.

• Coordinate with external partners, including Employer of Record representatives, international tax advisors, and external auditors.

• Clearly communicate financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.

• Support internal teams with accounting-related inquiries and financial reporting needs.

• Work closely with remote, international teams in English.

⛳️ Requirements

• A professional accounting designation is required, such as Colombian Public Accountant certification, CPA, or equivalent.

• 3–6+ years of accounting experience.

• Strong background in financial statements, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

• Experience with U.S. accounting processes, U.S.-based companies, or international accounting environments is highly preferred.

• Preference for candidates with experience in SaaS, technology, startups, subscription-based businesses, or recurring revenue models.

• Understanding of deferred revenue, accruals, unbilled AR, and revenue recognition.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research abilities.

• Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

• Ability to work independently, take ownership of deliverables, and adhere to deadlines.

• Proficient English communication skills required for cross-functional collaboration.

• Must be based in Colombia.

• Experience with QuickBooks Online is preferred.

• Advanced skills in Excel or Google Sheets.

• Familiarity with modern finance tools is an advantage, such as Wise, Float, Ramp, Plooto, or similar platforms.

• Knowledge of financial reporting, accounting automation, or SaaS finance platforms is a plus.

• Comfortable managing large data sets, reconciliations, and financial schedules.

• Valuable experience with other accounting systems like NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Siigo, World Office, or similar platforms.
