This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.
• Develop and sustain financial projections for 12–36 months, incorporating grant disbursement schedules, hiring strategies, and program assumptions.
• Create scenario-based financial models to facilitate decisions regarding hiring, campaigns, and organizational expansion.
• Design and maintain financial models for grants, including waterfall analyses for restricted funding.
• Convert financial models into comprehensible insights to aid leadership in decision-making.
• Regularly update and manage the organization’s monthly cash flow forecast.
• Construct a liquidity runway model and oversee reserve thresholds.
• Identify potential cash flow risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Maintain dashboards that track unrestricted funds, restricted grants, and financial runway.
• Analyze risks associated with grant dependency, currency variations, and liquidity planning.
• Assist in scenario analysis for campaign investments, hiring strategies, and national chapter growth.
• Oversee the annual budgeting process and uphold rolling financial forecasts.
• Evaluate accounting outputs from external bookkeepers prior to incorporating them into financial planning.
• Aid in the execution of a monthly financial closing procedure.
• Contribute to the establishment of WePlanet's financial governance framework.
• Ensure compliance with grant restrictions and fiscal sponsorship regulations.
• Generate monthly financial reports for leadership that cover cash position, forecast variances, and financial risks.
• Prepare quarterly financial dashboards for leadership and board review.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Extensive experience (typically over 5 years, or demonstrated equivalent expertise) in financial roles, ideally within an international NGO, nonprofit, or multi-donor context.
• Proven expertise in: Financial modeling and forecasting.
• Scenario analysis and liquidity planning.
• Grant-based budgeting and management of restricted funds.
• Multi-currency financial oversight.
• Strong proficiency in the Microsoft environment for financial modeling.
• Experience in conveying financial insights to colleagues without a finance background.
• Familiarity with international financial governance frameworks.
• Professional working proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
• Additional skills and knowledge (preferred): Familiarity with Belgian nonprofit accounting standards or international fiscal sponsorship models.
• Experience with Silverfin or similar accounting platforms.
• Contract: Part-time, 12-month fixed-term employment contract, approximately 0.4 FTE (around 15 hours per week on average), with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent contract based on performance, organizational needs, and budget.
• Location: Remote, preferably for candidates located in Eastern or Central Europe (CET ±2). Candidates must possess the right to work in their country of residence.
• Salary: €34,500–€55,500 gross per year full-time equivalent, pro-rated to approximately €1,150–€1,850 gross per month for this 0.4 FTE role, depending on experience and location.
