This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Strategic Registration & Regulatory Guidance: Oversee the preparation, execution, and coordination of regulatory initiatives for new product launches (NPIs) and lifecycle management across the U.S. (Federal and State), as well as Canada and Mexico if your expertise allows.
• FIFRA Expertise: Utilize in-depth knowledge of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) to register traditional actives, “me-too” products, biopesticides, and antimicrobial/biocide products.
• Regulation of Biologicals: Navigate the distinct regulatory environments for biologicals (biopesticides, biostimulants, microbials), utilizing recent regulatory advancements to speed up time-to-market.
• Data Strategy Development: Collaborate with relevant internal technical experts to conduct thorough data gap analyses, draft waiver requests, and formulate testing strategies that comply with EPA and state-level regulations.
• Labeling Expertise: Compose and review regulatory labels, including those for biological products, pinpointing issues and ensuring adherence to federal and state labeling regulations.
• Client & Team Engagement: Serve as the primary contact for the knoell team concerning North American expertise, enhancing team education on regulatory pathways, risks, and opportunities while nurturing long-term client relationships.
• Mentorship: Guide and mentor regulatory specialists and managers, promoting a culture of ongoing learning and skill enhancement.
• Proposals & Sales Support: Collaborate with project managers during initial client inquiry calls, work with internal sales teams on client proposals and quotes, and provide budgetary advice based on project scope and complexity.
• Regulatory Intelligence: Deliver competitive intelligence and insights on emerging regulatory trends (e.g., new state-level regulations, shifts in EPA policy).
• Global Collaboration Efforts: Partner closely with global colleagues to synchronize North American strategies with international frameworks (JMPR, EU, etc.).
• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Toxicology, Natural Resources, or a related scientific field is required. (An advanced degree is preferred.)
• Experience: At least 8+ years of professional experience in agrochemical registration, crop nutrition, or related areas at the U.S. federal level. (Additional international regulatory experience is preferred.)
• EPA Knowledge: A proven history of successfully registering products under FIFRA, including a deep understanding of regulatory strategy, data requirements, and risk assessment frameworks.
• Diverse Portfolio: Hands-on experience with traditional crop protection chemicals, biologicals (biopesticides/biofertilizers), and antimicrobials/biocides is essential.
• Communication Skills: Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities in English; capable of conveying complex regulatory concepts to varied audiences.
• Additional Skills and Preferences: Familiarity with Health Canada’s PMRA processes and JMPR (Joint Meeting on Pesticide Residues) evaluations; experience with topical animal health registrations or veterinary product regulations; knowledge of specific state regulations (e.g., California DPR, Florida DEP) and special local needs (Section 24(c)) filings; proficiency in German, Spanish, Portuguese, or Japanese is advantageous due to our global client base.
