Senior Estimator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• The main duties involve providing precise quantity takeoffs and budget estimates for RFPs related to high-rise buildings during both preconstruction and construction stages.

• Execute accurate on-screen quantity takeoffs for various building projects.

• Generate detailed estimates at all design phases: conceptual, schematic, design development, and fully detailed construction documents.

• Keep a well-organized database of historical pricing from all estimating department activities, encompassing labor, materials, assemblies, and costs per square foot of construction.

• Regularly update the pricing database using subcontractor bids from different projects.

• Create a database of productivity rates and crew sizes for major construction trades in partnership with the scheduling department.

• Examine RFP drawings and specifications to confirm that all necessary documentation is included.

• Categorize and organize various building components and systems for area takeoffs and pricing.

• Investigate means, methods, materials, costs, and construction techniques to assist in developing value-engineering proposals.

• Work together with the preconstruction team, providing insights on logistics, building methods, technologies, scheduling, and 3D modeling.

• Prepare trade bid package scopes, exhibits, and checklists; obtain bids; monitor prequalification status; lead bid scope review meetings; clarify scope; explore value engineering options; level bids; and draft award recommendation letters.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution.

• Over 7 years of estimating experience with a construction manager or general contractor in the NY Metro area.

• Knowledge of high-rise building construction in New York City.

• Understanding of productivity and crew sizes of NYC trade contractors.

• Capability to estimate across all construction trades (union and/or non-union).

• Familiarity with specific industry pricing standards.

• ASPE/CPE certification is advantageous.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

• Experience with Bluebeam.

• Experience with other takeoff or estimating software is a plus.
