This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.
• Oversee estimating functions and deliver precise bid proposals along with scope analysis for prospective projects.
• Create pricing estimates for new initiatives and modifications on current contracts.
• Review, evaluate, and interpret contract documents, specifications, drawings, and reference materials.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
• Identify project competitive edges and risks, communicating these insights with Operations.
• Provide value engineering and design-assist solutions, addressing cost and schedule implications.
• Collaborate with Operations regarding production, scheduling, staffing, and other related inputs.
• Develop construction plans that serve as the foundation for cost estimation.
• Conduct detailed project take-offs and quantify scope elements.
• Generate complete estimates that encompass alternates, general conditions, vendor and subcontractor pricing, materials, equipment, labor production, and wage rates.
• Solicit pricing from subcontractors and suppliers, review prequalification criteria, and select eligible subcontractors.
• Identify project-specific risks and devise mitigation strategies.
• Prepare thorough proposals that include durations, assumptions, exclusions, and necessary submission documentation.
• Engage with customers regarding pricing and scope feedback, highlight Kent differentiators, and schedule value-discussion meetings.
• Track opportunities and follow up using Unanet CRM.
• Participate in post-bid interviews as needed.
• Maintain preconstruction schedules and bid calendars.
• Assist with the transition of projects to management and field operations.
• Identify enhancements for estimating processes.
• Develop preliminary project schedules and pour plans with input from Operations.
• A Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in concrete estimating.
• At least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience in managing concrete preconstruction processes.
• Comprehensive understanding of construction principles and practices.
• Experience in building relationships and collaborating with subcontractors and vendors.
• Exceptional communication and organizational abilities.
• A valid driver's license.
• Reliable transportation.
• Capability to successfully pass a background check related to driving.
• Ability to clear a drug screening.
• Practical leadership skills, including motivation, goal setting, and conflict resolution.
• Strong organizational skills encompassing time management, delegation, prioritization, and multitasking.
• Creative, results-oriented mindset with a strong sense of urgency and self-motivation.
• Willingness to work Monday through Friday, typically from 7am to 5pm, with potential for 45–50 hour workweeks.
• Flexibility to work atypical days and irregular hours based on construction schedules.
• Availability to receive phone calls during irregular workdays and hours.
• Minimal overnight travel may be required.
