Senior Engineer / Senior Consultant – Project Lead Technical Infrastructure, Utility Network Design

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Oversee and assume technical responsibility for utility network design projects, including water, wastewater, district heating, gas, and power/cable routes, from initial design through to comprehensive detailed design.

β€’ Create and evaluate technical concepts, hydraulic calculations, longitudinal and cross profiles, as well as node and junction solutions.

β€’ Collaborate with internal teams (traffic planning, sewer network modeling, construction supervision, geotechnical engineering) and external parties (clients, utility providers, authorities).

β€’ Draft specifications, cost and schedule estimates, and prepare tender documentation.

β€’ Identify and manage risks, conduct quality control, and ensure adherence to standards, guidelines, and technical regulations.

β€’ Mentor and lead (junior) engineers; foster professional growth and knowledge sharing within the team.

β€’ Assist with procurement processes, contract negotiations, and provide construction supervision until project completion.

β€’ Act as the department representative in client meetings and presentations.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ A university degree (Dipl.-Ing., Master, Bachelor with relevant professional experience) in Civil Engineering, Utilities/Building Services Engineering, Infrastructure Planning, or a related field.

β€’ Minimum of 6–8 years of pertinent professional experience in utility network design or technical infrastructure, with a background in project leadership.

β€’ Proficient in using design and CAD/GIS tools (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS) and calculation software (e.g., DWA tools, HEC-RAS, hydraulic calculation tools).

β€’ Strong understanding of applicable standards and regulations (DIN, DWA, ATV, local regulations).

β€’ Experience in tendering, specification preparation (bill of quantities), and cost estimation.

β€’ Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with project management tools is a plus.

β€’ Excellent leadership and communication skills, with experience in managing teams and supervising junior staff.

β€’ High sense of responsibility, structured approach, and solution-oriented work ethic.

β€’ Professional and confident demeanor in dealings with clients and authorities.

β€’ Fluent in German (both spoken and written); a good command of English is a plus.

β€’ Willingness to travel for site visits and client meetings.
