Senior Engineer – Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Lead the execution of our next-generation eCommerce and customer experience platform.

• Transition engineering strategies from monolithic applications to a versatile, scalable, and distributed web ecosystem.

• Contribute to the architecture of the foundational core that supports independent applications.

• Enable a multi-year technical strategy that empowers autonomous product teams to create, deploy, and manage features independently.

• Connect the complexities of infrastructure with a seamless user experience.

• Establish shared API product platforms.

• Drive architectural enhancements to ensure optimal platform performance and responsiveness.

• Act as the technical authority for engineers and provide mentorship to senior engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of software engineering experience, particularly with high-scale web applications.

• More than 8 years of design experience, demonstrating mastery in Java, Spring Frameworks, SQL, React, MFE, and modern frameworks, with extensive expertise in component design and performance optimization.

• Proven success in leading cross-functional technical initiatives or re-architecting platforms.

• Established experience in setting engineering best practices, code quality standards, and technical roadmaps across various teams.

• Proficient in leveraging AI tools such as Q, Co-Pilot, Kiro, and Claude to expedite design and development processes.

• Documented history of reducing technical debt or enhancing developer velocity through redesign efforts.

• Strategic Influence: Ability to support a multi-year technical strategy and guide direction across teams without direct authority.

• Problem Solving: Proactively identifies systemic risks (e.g., single points of failure) and devises solutions to mitigate them before they disrupt productivity.

• Communication: Exceptional ability to convey complex design and architectural topics to both engineering teams and executive leadership.

• Autonomy: Takes ownership of significant, multi-team projects, driving them to completion with a strong emphasis on quality and detail.

• Distributed Systems Architecture: Profound understanding of methods for distributing code across systems, lazy loading, and runtime integration.

• Infrastructure & API: Experience in designing secure API gateways, managing authentication, and overseeing complex data flow between clients and servers.
