Senior EM Data Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Oversee the organization-wide data platform that supports every product and AI workflow throughout the company — from our award-winning AI-driven Global HR & Compliance Product to the Agentic AI Platform.

• Build, mentor, and cultivate high-performing distributed engineering teams that excel in a culture of autonomy, ownership, and operational excellence.

• Direct the design, development, and continuous improvement of all core data platform services: streaming/event ingestion, lakehouse, and Knowledge Platform.

• Ensure the platform's operational health, reliability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.

• Take responsibility for platform uptime, monitoring, and incident response, ensuring teams can depend on the platform for delivering critical products and AI functionalities.

• Collaborate with product-aligned teams to guarantee platform adoption, integration, and best practices.

• Shape the technical strategy for distributed systems, streaming infrastructure, lakehouse, and Knowledge Platform.

• Promote the adoption of modern engineering practices: CI/CD, automated testing, documentation, and design reviews.

⛳️ Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in software or data engineering, including 4+ years of leading distributed engineering teams.

• Demonstrated ability to build high-performing, autonomous engineering cultures.

• Practical experience in designing and managing large-scale data platforms, encompassing streaming/event ingestion, lakehouse infrastructure, and knowledge/semi-structured data systems.

• Familiarity with Databricks, Snowflake, or comparable cloud data platforms.

• Strong grasp of distributed data processing, storage, and querying.

• Proven expertise in platform reliability, monitoring, incident management, and operational excellence.

• Experience in defining, enforcing, and monitoring schema governance, data quality, security, and compliance standards.

• Ability to balance cost, performance, reliability, and operational health across intricate systems.

• Proficient programming skills in Python and SQL.

• Experience in developing tools and APIs for internal engineering teams.

• Capability to guide architectural decisions and design reviews at a strategic level.

• Comfortable collaborating with various engineering teams and stakeholders in a remote-first, distributed setting.

• Exceptional communication skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
