
Senior Electrical Engineer – Substation Physical Design

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee and execute the physical design of high-voltage substations (69 kV – 500 kV) within transmission and distribution networks.
• Develop layout drawings, general arrangements, grounding plans, conduit/cable schedules, and equipment schematics utilizing AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Bentley Substation.
• Collaborate with protection & control (P&C) and civil/structural engineering teams to ensure the production of high-quality, constructible designs and adherence to project timelines.
• Perform grounding analysis, bus design, equipment configuration, and quality assessments to ensure reliable and safe operations.
• Evaluate design packages to ensure compliance with NESC, IEEE, and client specifications.
• Guide and motivate early-career engineers, promoting technical development and teamwork—serving as both a technical leader and a role model.
• Assist in proposal initiatives and contribute to project scoping, scheduling, and cost estimation for new projects.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering along with an active PE license.
• More than 8 years of experience in substation physical design for utilities, EPCs, or consulting firms.
• Expertise in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and a working knowledge of Bentley Substation or other substation design software.
• In-depth understanding of high-voltage equipment layouts, grounding systems, and bus design.
• A solid grasp of relay coordination, control schemes, SCADA, and principles of substation automation.
