Senior Electrical & Controls Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +6 more states.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with design engineers to review, specify, and implement electrical systems for our products in accordance with NEC code and industry best practices.

• Evaluate electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts for new initiatives and system enhancements.

• Facilitate technical review meetings to ensure alignment with project specifications and safety regulations.

• Act as the NEC code representative for the U.S. market, ensuring all designs adhere to current code mandates.

• Analyze and review designs for compliance with UL508A standards, aiding in the UL certification process for electrical panels and equipment.

• Prioritize safety, efficiency, and reliability in all electrical systems.

• Oversee and manage multiple electrical engineering projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget.

• Coordinate communication among clients, contractors, factories, and cross-functional teams for successful project delivery.

• Create technical reports, project updates, and documentation for project completion and closure.

• Design and develop electrical control systems, incorporating PLCs, HMIs, and automation components.

• Assist in the integration and troubleshooting of communication protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP, and other industrial standards.

• Optimize control systems for enhanced performance and minimized downtime through troubleshooting.

• Mentor junior engineers by providing technical advice, training, and support for professional growth.

• Work collaboratively with mechanical engineers, software developers, project managers, and other team members across functions.

• Represent the company as a subject matter expert in NEC code, electrical engineering, and control systems during client and industry partner meetings.

• Stay informed about developments in electrical engineering, NEC updates, and industry trends to maintain cutting-edge expertise.

• Propose enhancements to existing systems and processes to improve efficiency, safety, and compliance.

• Facilitate and lead collaboration between global and local strategies with teams at the Mexico factory (and other global factories), as well as with European strategies.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

• Engineer in Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) certification is required, indicating successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. (PE preferred)

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical engineering with an emphasis on NEC code, project management, and system design.

• In-depth understanding of NEC, UL508A, and associated standards.

• Familiarity with industrial and building control protocols, including Modbus and BACnet.

• Strong project management capabilities with a proven record of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying technical information clearly to both clients and colleagues.

• Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
