This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Developing comprehensive architectural designs, blueprints, and other artifacts within the solution architecture domain.
• Performing architectural evaluations and offering constructive input on solution designs.
• Building and nurturing strong client relationships to effectively facilitate negotiations, resolve issues, and pinpoint potential systems and business opportunities.
• Leading the creation of scalable, efficient, and secure technical architectures for complex enterprise solutions.
• Working closely with cross-functional leaders to identify software and system gaps and requirements.
• Overseeing the prioritization and development of roadmaps to address gaps and ensure solutions align with Smile’s and client business strategies and objectives.
• Offering strategic architectural advice to Smile and cross-functional teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborating extensively with business units, technical experts, and senior leaders to collect requirements and ensure alignment between customer expectations and technical capabilities.
• Mentoring and guiding other solutions architects and engineers, promoting a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Identifying potential risks, troubleshooting obstacles, and devising suitable mitigation strategies and solutions.
• Creating proofs-of-concept to validate proposed solutions and explore new capabilities.
• Providing regular updates on progress and status, as well as consistently meeting KPIs.
• Over 10 years of experience in the technology sector with a strong background in solution or enterprise architecture roles, showcasing proficiency as a thought leader.
• Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field and/or equivalent work experience.
• Proven success in designing and delivering large-scale, complex software solutions.
• Experience with electronic information exchange, preferably in the healthcare sector.
• Demonstrated deep expertise in technical and architectural best practices, methodologies, programming tools, and development platforms such as microservices architecture, and scalable enterprise-level solutions (HL7 FHIR experience is preferred but not mandatory).
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain robust partnerships with clients, technical teams, and internal business partners across various disciplines and experience levels.
• Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, understandable language for non-technical audiences.
• Strong skills in technical problem-solving, critical thinking, and developing innovative solutions.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Capability to work in a multi-functional team environment with rapidly changing priorities.
• Highly analytical mindset, capable of seeing both the overarching picture and the finer details.
• Formal IT architecture certifications (e.g., TOGAF) are advantageous but not mandatory.
