Senior Director, Strategic Finance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Build, lead, and nurture Greenlight’s strategic finance team by establishing priorities, mentoring managers and analysts, and expanding the function as the company scales.

• Act as the main strategic finance collaborator with the CFO and executive leadership team, influencing company-wide strategy, investment choices, and significant trade-offs.

• Oversee the complete financial modeling and company-wide planning cycle, which includes long-range planning, annual budgeting, and quarterly forecasting across all departments.

• Direct comprehensive custom financial modeling, scenario analysis, and market insights for the product, engineering, marketing, and commercial sales teams regarding prospective products and initiatives.

• Manage variance analysis comparing actual results against budget/forecast, and collaborate with business leaders to provide insightful, actionable decision support at the executive level.

• Lead the preparation and presentation of board-level reporting and strategic documents.

• Work closely with the Accounting team on month-end and quarter-end closing processes and audit assistance, ensuring alignment between FP&A and accounting.

• Conduct analysis and due diligence for potential strategic acquisitions, partnerships, or investment opportunities, and present recommendations to the executive leadership team.

• Represent the finance function in cross-departmental strategic planning, OKR setting, and company-wide operating rhythms.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8–10+ years of progressive experience in strategic finance, FP&A, investment banking, private equity, or venture capital, with a focus on managing and developing talent (experience in FinTech or consumer subscription and/or startups is strongly preferred).

• Proven history of leading company-wide planning processes (budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning) at a venture-backed or high-growth organization.

• Strong leadership and executive communication capabilities.

• Advanced Excel / Google Sheets modeling and technical expertise; experience with FP&A software (e.g., Adaptive, Anaplan, Pigment, AI native tools) is an advantage.

• Excellent analytical abilities and a strategic mindset.

• Demonstrated capacity to influence and foster alignment across functions and levels, including executive and board levels.

• Solid understanding of accounting principles and systems.

• Proficient in data visualization and the ability to distill complex analyses into simple, actionable insights for senior stakeholders.

• Eagerness to learn and enhance your skillset, as well as the ability to develop your team's capabilities over time.

• Proven leader with experience in building, managing, and cultivating high-performing finance teams.

• Exceptional executive presence — comfortable presenting to and influencing the CFO, executive team, investors, and board, and prepared to address critical issues.

• Strategic mindset with the capability to convert ambiguous business challenges into structured financial frameworks and clear recommendations.

• Strong ownership mentality; detail-oriented and dedicated to delivering high-quality work while effectively delegating tasks.
