This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Formulate and implement a comprehensive global tax strategy that aligns with corporate growth initiatives, international expansion, and optimization of entity structures.
• Offer strategic insights on tax matters specific to SaaS, including considerations for revenue recognition and indirect tax implications.
• Drive initiatives in tax planning aimed at enhancing effective tax rate (ETR) and optimizing cash tax results.
• Provide counsel to executive leadership and Board members regarding the tax consequences of major business decisions and changes in regulations.
• Supervise global tax compliance for income tax, indirect taxes (VAT, GST, sales/use), and withholding taxes.
• Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of tax provisions and financial reports in compliance with ASC 740.
• Manage relationships with external tax consultants and global tax authorities.
• Maintain robust internal controls over tax reporting and compliance processes.
• Lead transfer pricing strategies in accordance with OECD guidelines, and develop and implement necessary policy enhancements.
• Support international operations, including mitigating permanent establishment risks and creating tax-efficient structures.
• Keep abreast of global tax developments and evaluate their impact on the business.
• Direct tax due diligence, structuring, and integration efforts for mergers, acquisitions, and strategic investments.
• Collaborate with corporate development and legal teams to assess tax risks and opportunities associated with transactions.
• Aid in post-acquisition tax integration and optimization strategies.
• Oversee the global indirect tax strategy, focusing on nexus, VAT/GST compliance, and regulations governing digital marketplaces.
• Ensure adherence to evolving digital tax frameworks that affect SaaS and subscription models.
• Work with billing, product, and finance teams on tax-sensitive pricing and product decisions.
• Identify and mitigate global tax risks, including managing audits and controversies.
• Establish scalable tax processes, systems, and governance frameworks to facilitate growth.
• Ensure compliance with SOX-like internal control standards.
• Build, lead, and cultivate a high-performing global tax team.
• Promote automation and process enhancements utilizing tax technology and data analytics.
• Encourage strong cross-functional collaboration with finance, legal, FP&A, treasury, and operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA is required; MST or JD/LLM (Tax) is preferred.
• Significant progressive tax experience, including leadership positions in multinational SaaS or technology firms.
• A blend of public accounting and in-house corporate tax experience is preferred.
• Extensive knowledge in U.S. and international tax, including transfer pricing, indirect tax, ASC 740, and pertinent tax codes (e.g., Sections 174 & 382).
• Proven success in supporting high-growth environments, particularly those backed by private equity or in the public SaaS sector.
• Strong history of M&A tax structuring, due diligence, and integration.
• Familiarity with modern tax technologies and ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Vertex, or Avalara.
• Strategic thinker capable of hands-on operation and building scalable processes in a dynamic setting.
