Senior Director – Head of Architecture

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Strategic Technical Leadership: Define and significantly impact the implementation of a target-state, AI-native architecture that supports both core software services and sophisticated AI Agentic behaviors.

• Architectural Governance: Create global standards for architectural consistency, ensuring that all platform components maximize reuse and align with the long-term technology roadmap.

• AI First Thinking: Oversee the architectural design of intricate AI systems, AI enablement strategies, data engineering, and governance controls. Ensure these elements are integrated into a unified strategy and implementation.

• Customer Centricity: Our primary focus is serving our customers. Understanding their needs and the business landscape is vital for developing successful strategies.

• Team Management & Mentorship: Lead, expand, and mentor a diverse team of architects, fostering a culture of engineering excellence and continuous learning.

• Security & Compliance: Establish and implement standards and governance mechanisms for the security of software platforms and infrastructure to prevent data breaches and ensure compliance with regulations.

• Technical Trade-offs: Act as a mentor and decision-maker with technical teams and business stakeholders, translating complex technical trade-offs into business impacts.

• Innovation & Research: Serve as the primary "sounding board" for introducing new technologies, third-party integrations, and open-source solutions to maintain the platform's leadership in the industry.

• Reliability & Performance: Ensure that system and infrastructure architecture achieves high reliability, low latency, and minimal outages as a core measure of organizational success.

• Culture Builder: Contribute to the development of a strong culture of innovation and technical excellence throughout the organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in software engineering and architecture, focusing on the development of products and platforms, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership or directorial role managing Architecture teams.

• Extensive Cloud Expertise: Proven experience in designing and deploying distributed, cloud-native architectures, particularly with AWS.

• AI First Product & Tech Strategies: Experience in developing AI Native products and technologies.

• Strategic Communication: Proven ability to secure support for large-scale technical changes from both executive leadership and hands-on engineering teams.

• Change Management: Experience leading architectural digital transformations in a rapidly growing or "unstructured" corporate setting.

• Financial Acumen: Ability to evaluate technology trade-offs considering Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and ROI.

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
