Senior Director, Data Governance, Strategy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Establish and uphold the unified data model for essential entities, acting as the definitive standard for how critical data assets are organized, interconnected, and managed across the organization.

• Take full ownership of the Data Entity Resolution Rulebook from start to finish — developing, governing, and consistently enhancing the guidelines for identifying, matching, deduplicating, and reconciling entities across various systems and business lines, with a focus on companies, properties, individuals, and transaction entities.

• Collaborate with stakeholders from different business lines to address unique edge cases in entity resolution, ensuring that governance frameworks are both principled and applicable within JLL's varied operational contexts.

• Lead and supervise the Data Stewardship organization, establishing a strategic vision that transforms the team into a value-added function — advancing from compliance to proactive initiatives in data quality, literacy, and readiness for AI.

• Propel an upskilling agenda within Data Stewardship, empowering the team with the skills necessary to thrive in an AI-driven data landscape.

• Lead and oversee the Data Modeling organization, managing the integration of the unified model into the Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) and modernizing modeling workflows and tools.

• Speed up the growth of datasets under the unified model, collaborating with engineering, platform, and business teams to enhance coverage and consistency at scale.

• Influence and align senior leaders across technology, business, and product sectors to promote the adoption of governance standards and address competing priorities.

• Team up with senior technology, privacy, and compliance leaders to ensure that governance strategies proactively respond to emerging regulatory demands and evolving data risks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of progressive experience in data governance, data management, enterprise data strategy, or a related field.

• Proven ability to develop and implement enterprise-wide governance initiatives, including common data model creation, data classification frameworks, and stewardship operations.

• Demonstrated experience in managing or operating enterprise data platforms, with a solid understanding of data architecture, metadata management, and data quality principles.

• Practical experience in developing or executing entity resolution frameworks, master data management (MDM), or data reconciliation standards on a large scale.

• Experience in leading data stewardship or data modeling teams, with a successful record of enhancing team capabilities and positioning the function for strategic influence.

• A history of influencing senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders across various business domains, negotiating outcomes and promoting governance adoption on a large scale.

• Ability to translate data strategies into quantifiable business results, including operational efficiency, risk mitigation, or platform modernization.

• Outstanding communication skills, with the capacity to present complex data concepts clearly and convincingly to executive audiences.
