
Senior Director Analyst – Security Operations, Threat Detection, Response and Automation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +3 more states.
• This position involves crafting leading-edge research on security operations, monitoring, and vulnerability management for our Gartner for Technical Professionals clients through published research, client interactions (Inquiry), stage presentations, teleconferences, and direct meetings.
• Engage with clients daily through various channels: phone calls, video conferences, presentations at Gartner events, or face-to-face during sales support visits.
• Investigate technologies, practices, and trends to generate written research for Gartner clients to access and implement.
• Provide high-quality, actionable recommendations through diverse media formats.
• Produce clear, high-quality advisory research documents that are actionable.
• Stay ahead of developments and challenges within these specific areas as well as relevant adjacent fields.
• Clearly articulate and defend assigned topic positions during discussions, while showing a willingness to reconsider perspectives and accept consensus decisions.
• Address client inquiries, create materials for client presentations, and deliver them in-person, via teleconference, video conference, or at events.
• Uphold Gartner’s esteemed industry reputation by responding to media inquiries.
• Collaborate proactively with the broader sales organization to provide exceptional sales support aimed at retaining and growing the business.
• Expertise in security operations, threat detection, incident response, and automation technologies.
• Familiarity with security information and event management (SIEM) systems.
• Understanding of threat detection sources that contribute to and integrate into the SOC ecosystem and security platforms, such as SIEM and security data lakes.
• Knowledge of security operations in both on-premises and cloud environments.
• Awareness of incident response and/or threat hunting processes and relevant technologies.
• Insight into security operations center processes, metrics, and reporting for both technical and executive audiences.
• Familiarity with security automation solutions, including AI SOC agents and automation features in platforms like SIEM.
• Capability to mentor security personnel at all levels for their roles and professional growth.
• Comprehensive understanding of operational security within an internal and commercial context.
• Awareness of the global landscape and the competitive dynamics among incumbents, emerging providers, disruptors, and outsourcing entities.
• Proven analytical skills, capable of applying conceptual models, recognizing patterns, and forming and defending conclusions.
• Strong business and financial acumen, along with analytical skills, are essential for this role.
• Excellent communication skills that are articulate and succinct.
• Experience in publishing and speaking engagements is a plus.
• At least 7 years of experience in a security architect or security operations-related position.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• Willingness to travel occasionally, both regionally and globally.
• Proficient in public speaking and possessing executive presence when engaging with security and business leaders.
