Senior Director Analyst – Data Engineering, Edge, Data Lakes, Back End

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Perform in-depth research and analysis on the edge data management landscape, encompassing databases, data storage, and emerging data architectures within edge, cloud, and AI environments.

• Identify and evaluate the primary drivers that necessitate the adoption of data management in distributed enterprises and their effects on real-time decision-making.

• Create high-quality, insightful research reports, presentations, and other deliverables focused on key topics such as data management trends, use cases, challenges, and vendor landscapes.

• Offer expert advisory services to Gartner clients through inquiries, meetings, and presentations, addressing specific questions and delivering strategic guidance on their edge data initiatives.

• Cultivate a thorough understanding of the similarities and distinctions between cloud-based and edge-based data management solutions, along with the factors influencing their adoption.

• Possess a solid foundation in data architecture and cloud-native data platforms, with practical knowledge of contemporary data engineering toolchains spanning edge-to-cloud deployments.

• Evaluate and provide recommendations for deploying and managing AI workloads across distributed locations, including orchestration, remote updates, and monitoring for reliability and performance.

• Assess and advise on the long-term viability, scalability, and security of proposed hybrid data architectures, encompassing integration and orchestration patterns across on-premises and cloud platforms.

• Experience in evaluating cloud data platforms for edge-to-cloud analytics, governance, and real-time data pipelines, including open table formats.

• Explore the challenges that organizations encounter in managing distributed data architectures within edge environments, including governance and security issues, and offer guidance on how to address these challenges.

• Analyze the competitive landscape of vendors offering edge data management solutions.

• Contribute to the development of forecasts and market sizing for the edge data market segments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in the data management field, particularly focused on edge computing and edge data management.

• Profound understanding of database technologies, data storage solutions, and data integration strategies, with particular knowledge pertaining to their application in Banking and Finance use cases.

• Knowledge and implementation of PCI DSS standards within banking and retail environments.

• Proven ability to conduct independent research and analysis, synthesize complex information, and formulate insightful and actionable recommendations.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to present complex subjects clearly and succinctly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Strong client engagement and advisory expertise, with a demonstrated history of establishing rapport and offering valuable guidance to clients.

• Familiarity with the various use cases that are driving edge data adoption across multiple industries.

• Understanding of cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their integration with edge environments.

• Awareness of security and governance considerations specific to edge data management.

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science) or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred.
