Senior DevOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Develop and execute strategies aimed at minimizing operational expenses across GCP, AWS, Firebase, and managed services such as MongoDB Atlas and Elastic.co.

• Create and sustain cost dashboards (utilizing DoiT, GCP BigQuery, AWS Cost Explorer, etc.) to monitor expenditures across cloud providers and services at the product, team, and project levels.

• Establish and uphold Cost per Operation (CPO) metrics for each product/service; work in conjunction with product owners to synchronize infrastructure costs with revenue generation.

• Implement policies, guardrails, budgets, and alerts to mitigate cost overruns and promote efficient resource utilization throughout Kubernetes clusters and cloud services.

• Generate automation scripts (using Python, Bash, or Terraform) to identify idle resources, optimize workloads, and enforce tagging strategies.

• Decompose cloud billing by team, sub_team, project, and service using label-based and usage-based filtering; deliver actionable insights and recommendations.

• Collaborate with finance, DevOps, platform, and product teams to connect infrastructure costs to product growth and engineering impact.

• Offer expertise on crafting cost-effective cloud-native systems and assist teams in adopting best practices for storage, compute, and networking usage.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 4 years of experience in Cloud Engineering roles with an emphasis on cost optimization.

• Extensive hands-on experience with GCP (BigQuery, GKE, Firebase, Pub/Sub), AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, EKS), and managed services like MongoDB Atlas, Elastic.co, and ClickHouse.

• Strong proficiency in DoiT Cloud Analytics, GCP Billing Export, AWS CUR (Cost & Usage Reports), and BigQuery.

• Skilled in Python, Bash, and automation frameworks for cost management and reporting.

• Adept at querying and visualizing cloud billing data to derive unit economics (e.g., cost per user, per API call, per deployment).

• Knowledgeable in cost management within Kubernetes (e.g., node cost allocation, workload optimization, spot/preemptible usage).

• Capable of translating intricate cost insights into actionable strategies for engineering and business stakeholders.
