Senior DevOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Design, automate, and oversee Azure-based developer environments, including sandbox, development, and testing setups.

• Develop and support tooling, automation, and monitoring solutions to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable systems.

• Assess developer environment requirements and Azure infrastructure to enhance performance, capacity, and scalability.

• Explore new technologies for company projects and financial planning.

• Work collaboratively with development and IT teams on infrastructure-as-code for self-service environments and network architecture.

• Design, create, and maintain CI/CD and environment-provisioning pipelines.

• Supervise deployment, monitoring, and management of Azure-based systems and services.

• Manage project timelines and maintain documentation.

• Troubleshoot build/release pipelines and cloud infrastructure, including potential 24x7 on-call support.

• Mentor and train developers, infrastructure, and service desk teams on self-service tooling, DevOps methodologies, and automation techniques.

• Promote DevOps practices, automation, and cloud technology advancements.

• Construct and sustain containerized and virtualized application environments.

• Take ownership of developer onboarding and self-service provisioning, including request/approval workflows, access management, and environment templates.

• Provide escalation support for Office 365, Active Directory, end-user networking, and client applications.

• Create and revise process documentation, troubleshooting guides, infrastructure-as-code diagrams, deployment standards, reports, analytics, and runbooks.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in IT systems/DevOps engineering is preferred.

• Extensive hands-on experience with Azure.

• Proficiency with Windows, Linux, and macOS operating systems.

• Experience in administering and automating Azure infrastructure, including Azure DevOps, Resource Manager/Bicep, AKS, and Azure Monitor.

• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.

• Scripting and automation skills with PowerShell, Python, or Bash.

• Experience in CI/CD pipeline design and management utilizing Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.

• Background in building self-service developer platforms or environment catalogs.

• Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, Office 365, IIS, and SharePoint.

• Experience with configuration management and containerization tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Docker, or Kubernetes.

• Familiarity with Git-based version control and database management software like MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server.

• Understanding of system monitoring processes and best practices.

• Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

• Quick learner of new technologies.

• Knowledge of information security principles, network-level security, and endpoint protection mechanisms.

• Previous experience in providing 24x7 mission-critical support.

• Ability to work efficiently and professionally within a team setting.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Excellent customer service capabilities.

• Bachelor's degree and/or Azure or other relevant certifications preferred.

• Capacity to lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
