Senior DevOps Engineer, Applications

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and enhance Azure infrastructure utilizing Terraform, encompassing networking, compute, managed services, and secrets.

• Oversee Kubernetes clusters and manage Helm-based deployments for a distributed microservices architecture.

• Develop and sustain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions / Azure DevOps) that ensure swift and secure deployments.

• Establish and refine observability metrics, logging, alerting, and tracing across various services.

• Spearhead incident response efforts — facilitate resolution, compose postmortems, and ensure follow-through on reliability enhancements.

• Manage PostgreSQL infrastructure, including backups, replication, failover strategies, and query performance optimization.

• Work in close collaboration with engineers to enhance local development environments and deployment processes.

• Uphold security best practices, including secrets management, network policies, access controls, and vulnerability assessments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong background in DevOps or platform engineering, typically with 5+ years of experience.

• Extensive hands-on experience with Azure, including AKS, Azure AD, managed databases, blob storage, and networking.

• Proficient in Terraform — capable of writing, organizing, and maintaining infrastructure as code at scale.

• Experienced in Kubernetes and Helm management of production workloads.

• Proven track record in building and operating CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar tools).

• Familiarity with PostgreSQL for operational management, migrations, and performance tuning.

• Strong understanding of observability tools such as Datadog, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or their equivalents.

• Experience in incident response and implementing reliability improvements derived from postmortems.

• Knowledgeable in Docker and container image management.

• Familiar with secrets management solutions (Azure Key Vault, Vault, or similar systems).

• Comfortable operating in environments where systems and processes are continuously evolving.
