Senior Developer/Analyst, COBOL

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Develop, maintain, and test COBOL solutions to address business requirements;

• Identify both functional and non-functional requirements;

• Create comprehensive technical solutions, estimate resources, and set delivery timelines;

• Write code, conduct unit and integration tests, rectify defects, and enhance code performance;

• Advocate for and implement best practices in software development and maintenance, offer technical leadership to the team, and foster innovation and ongoing improvement;

• Ensure adherence to relevant security standards and regulations in software development;

• Conduct impact analyses for suggested changes, ensuring that all stakeholders understand the consequences.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of knowledge and experience in application development using COBOL;

• Proven experience in collaborative team settings utilizing agile methodologies such as SCRUM or Kanban;

• Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related disciplines;

• Familiarity with code quality and performance assessment for mainframe applications;

• Preferred: experience in developing within mainframe environments such as Unisys, COMS, DMSII, SDF, and CANDE;

• Understanding of automated unit and integration testing (TDD/ATDD) in COBOL routines;

• Knowledge of Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) principles;

• Awareness of integration technologies (e.g., APIs, Web Services);

• Experience in mentoring and training developers;

• Familiarity with visual modeling and prototyping tools;

• Proficient in SQL (Structured Query Language).
