This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.
• Take charge of the complete design process for Men’s Apparel, starting from concept and sketching all the way through to final design, development, and tech pack delivery.
• Create consumer-centric product concepts that balance performance, style, functionality, sustainability, and brand identity.
• Convert consumer insights, trends, cultural influences, materials, and emerging technologies into innovative product concepts and seasonal narratives.
• Develop seasonal design platforms that include mood boards, direction for colors and materials, fabric intentions, trims, construction details, and visual storytelling tools.
• Spearhead Men’s Apparel design concepts while contributing to the overall seasonal brand design direction.
• Design cohesive collections that span categories, products, and seasons.
• Advocate for innovation in materials, trims, construction, and products.
• Collaborate with Merchandising and PLM to transform line plans into a unified design vision.
• Work closely with Product Development, Technical Design, Production, and other partners to ensure successful final delivery.
• Present design concepts, seasonal directions, and product narratives to creative and cross-functional teams.
• Curate and maintain design lookbooks, presentations, and visual merchandising resources.
• Assist the Design Director and the wider design team in advancing Cotopaxi’s creative vision.
• Oversee multiple projects, manage priorities, milestones, and deadlines effectively.
• Spot opportunities to enhance design processes, product quality, creativity, and innovation.
• Consider responsible materials, construction, longevity, and product impact throughout the design process.
• Keep abreast of trends in apparel, textiles, technology, and consumer preferences.
• Travel domestically and internationally as required for design, product development, and team collaboration.
• At least 7 years of professional experience in apparel design, accessories, or related soft goods, with a significant focus on men’s apparel.
• Preferred experience in performance, activewear, outdoor, or outerwear segments.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Apparel Design, Fashion Design, or a related field is preferred or equivalent experience.
• Possess a strong creative vision and a deep understanding of proportion, color, materials, construction, and product aesthetics.
• Ability to convert consumer insights, market trends, and creative inspiration into commercially viable product concepts and cohesive seasonal collections.
• Excellent presentation and storytelling capabilities.
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Experience with 3D design or modeling tools is advantageous.
• Strong grasp of apparel design and development from concept through to final production.
• Knowledgeable in fit, sewn and non-sewn construction, manufacturing processes, materials, textiles, and garment technologies.
• Familiar with innovations in materials, trims, construction, and manufacturing.
• Capable of forging relationships and collaborating with Merchandising, Product Development, Technical Design, Production, and PLM teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across cultures, functions, and geographic locations.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a feedback-driven team environment.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Self-motivated, highly organized, and adept at managing multiple projects and deadlines.
• Ability to thrive in a remote-first setting and travel domestically and internationally as needed.
