• The Senior Designer acts as a seasoned individual contributor within a team, with the expectation of enhancing your leadership, mentoring, and guidance capabilities.
• With minimal oversight from management, you will take responsibility for achieving project scope, schedule, and delivery objectives.
• A Senior Designer plays a crucial role in shaping the long-term goals of the program while contributing to the formulation of the design strategy.
• You may serve as the primary lead for your discipline when collaborating with stakeholders, employing strong influence to enhance design processes and practices.
• May lead cross-functional initiatives involving delivery team members and team leads.
• Effectively navigates ambiguous requirements and environments to ensure successful delivery.
• Oversees the delivery of design outputs including design initiative briefs, discovery artifacts, sketches, wireframes, UX flows, low and high-fidelity prototypes, heuristic evaluations, competitive analysis, and contributions to the design system.
• Possesses a comprehensive understanding of scope requirements to prioritize design activities effectively.
• Responsible for collaborating with users to support the creation of effective designs.
• Experienced in design principles, capable of providing recommendations on typography and hierarchy.
• Produces design outputs including discovery artifacts, sketches, rough prototypes, wireframes, UX flows, and high-fidelity prototypes.
• Demonstrates the ability to mentor designers, focusing on delivering actionable feedback that facilitates individual growth in measurable ways.
• Manages the creation of competitive analyses and presents findings to stakeholders.
• Contributes to design libraries and produces visual design as well as brand artifacts.
• Facilitates discussions among multi-disciplinary teams to promote productive dialogue and clarify goals for meeting requirements.
• Skilled in storytelling to create compelling artifacts and presentations that simplify complex issues into clear, understandable solutions.
• Leads human-centered design processes and deliverables while ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
• May oversee accessibility tasks, including ensuring 508 compliance and being knowledgeable about other emerging accessibility standards.
• Capable of identifying risks and communicating them to leadership; offers recommendations for risk mitigation.
• May develop and manage content for high-visibility websites or applications, adhering to design guidelines.
• Participates in evaluating candidate homework and engaging in panel interviews.
• Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Analyze user needs to identify functional requirements, define problems, and create plans and requirements in the relevant subject matter area for moderately complex to complex systems related to information systems architecture, networking, telecommunications, automation, communications protocols, risk management/electronic analysis, software, lifecycle management, software development methodologies, and modeling and simulation.
• Execute functional allocation to pinpoint required tasks and their interrelationships.
• Identify necessary resources for each task.
• Exhibit exceptional oral and written communication skills.
• Relevant experience in IT and in both new and related older technologies pertaining to the required area of expertise.
• Prior experience mentoring junior team members.
• Proficiency with design software such as Figma, Miro, Adobe, or other design tools.
