Senior DBA – Legacy Data Migration

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Oversee the data aspect of the migration for the SAP SQL Anywhere layer, which includes approximately 3.5 million rows, 8,946 triggers, 805 stored procedures, and over 40,000 access points.

• Assess and implement a change data capture mechanism to facilitate coexistence stitching, noting that there is no managed CDC for SQL Anywhere and that dbtran does not serve as CDC.

• Guarantee single-writer ownership throughout the dual-run phase.

• Safeguard the integrity and performance of the fiscal ledger system.

• Manage the data component of the equivalence harness to ensure accurate production history replay.

• Generate masked or synthetic datasets in accordance with Brazil's LGPD standards.

• Outline the migration and reconciliation strategy in waves to prevent split-brain scenarios.

• Extract and document the embedded business logic as reusable artifacts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Senior DBA with responsibilities in administration, support, and optimization.

• Experience in migrating legacy databases that are predominantly reliant on triggers and procedures to cloud data platforms.

• Proficiency with Sybase / SAP SQL Anywhere or a comparable database engine.

• Knowledge of Change Data Capture (CDC) and replication processes.

• Familiarity with dual-repository (dual-store) synchronization.

• Expertise in query tuning and performance optimization at scale.

• Understanding of data governance and compliance with LGPD (Brazilian data protection law).

• Fluent in Portuguese and capable of reading technical documentation in English.
