This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Manage, optimize, and provide support for SQL Server 2019+ environments hosted on AWS EC2.
• Design, implement, and uphold high availability and disaster recovery strategies, including Always On Availability Groups, clustering, replication, and failover testing.
• Execute and continually enhance operational procedures such as backups, restores, database refreshes, index maintenance, patching, and capacity planning.
• Monitor database performance and resolve issues utilizing execution plans, query analysis, Extended Events, SQL Profiler, and enterprise monitoring tools.
• Engage in production support and on-call rotations while promoting long-term enhancements to reduce incident frequency and operational risks.
• Identify, prioritize, and automate manual database administration tasks through standardization.
• Create reusable automation solutions using PowerShell, T-SQL, SQL Agent, Terraform, CloudFormation, and other engineering tools.
• Standardize management practices across platforms to enhance consistency, reliability, and scalability.
• Collaborate with application, platform, and DevOps teams to incorporate database deployments into CI/CD pipelines.
• Support version-controlled database development and deployment methodologies.
• Contribute to schema versioning, release automation, and database change management efforts.
• Promote database best practices within application architecture and development workflows.
• Assist in low-downtime or zero-downtime deployment techniques to enhance release quality and stability.
• Mentor team members in automation, cloud technologies, operational excellence, and engineering best practices.
• Work with global database engineering teams to ensure consistent standards and operational practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Over 8 years of hands-on SQL Server administration experience in enterprise production environments.
• In-depth expertise in SQL Server performance tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Extensive experience in designing and supporting high availability and disaster recovery solutions, including Always On Availability Groups, clustering, replication, and disaster recovery testing.
• Proven success in automating operational processes through scripting and Infrastructure as Code methodologies.
• Experience in supporting SQL Server environments hosted on AWS infrastructure, particularly EC2 deployments.
• Background in supporting highly available, business-critical systems with stringent SLA requirements.
• Advanced expertise in SQL Server administration and performance tuning.
• Strong scripting and automation capabilities using PowerShell and T-SQL.
• Familiarity with Terraform, CloudFormation, or other Infrastructure as Code tools.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, version control systems, and DevOps methodologies.
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Idera, Redgate, CloudWatch, AppDynamics, Performance Insights, Extended Events, and SQL Profiler.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration abilities.
