Senior Database Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Design and develop scalable, highly available database solutions for intricate systems.

• Take charge of performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning for substantial data volumes.

• Lead database reliability initiatives, including backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.

• Identify and resolve complex production incidents and performance bottlenecks.

• Establish and uphold database security measures, access control, encryption, and compliance protocols.

• Collaborate with application, platform, and DevOps teams on system design and releases.

• Spearhead migrations, upgrades, and database modernization efforts.

• Automate database operations utilizing scripts and infrastructure-as-code methodologies.

• Review database designs and offer technical insights to engineers.

• Maintain operational documentation, standards, and best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in managing databases in a production environment.

• Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, and/or NoSQL databases.

• Advanced SQL skills with a deep understanding of query execution and optimization techniques.

• Experience with replication, clustering, and high-availability architectures.

• Practical experience with cloud database platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).

• Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix system administration.

• Proficient in scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell).

• Experience with monitoring, alerting, and performance analysis tools.

• Comprehensive understanding of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automation practices.

• Strong ownership mentality, problem-solving capabilities, and mentorship skills.

• Advanced or fluent proficiency in English.
