Senior Data Scientist – Telematics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Analyze raw, high-frequency sensor data including GPS, accelerometer, and gyroscope at scale.

• Investigate new behavioral features and detection algorithms.

• Create and develop behavioral features and factors that enhance Zego's understanding of driving quality.

• Transform ideas from hypothesis to production.

• Focus on simple and robust solutions.

• Lead experiments, assess impact using data, and automate the generation of insights.

• Work closely with software engineers, product managers, and actuaries.

⛳️ Requirements

• MSc (or integrated MEng/MSc) in a quantitative discipline such as Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.

• Familiarity with digital signal processing or sensor physics.

• Proven experience in successfully delivering data science or data engineering projects into production.

• Proficient in Python and SQL (we utilize Snowflake).

• Experience in developing and assessing ML models using tabular data.

• Demonstrated capability in designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines from the ground up.

• Proficient with AI coding assistants as part of everyday engineering tasks.

• Strong communication skills: capable of translating ambiguous challenges into well-structured concepts.

• Growth mindset: inquisitive, receptive to feedback, and motivated to continuously improve.

• Nice to Have: Experience in applying signal processing techniques to noisy, high-frequency sensor/time-series data in production.

• Familiarity with insurance, mobile data, or behavior modeling.

• Experience with cloud platforms, containerization, or data orchestration frameworks.
