Senior Data Scientist, leadership responsibility, part-time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• You evaluate our intricate data and extract valuable insights utilizing methods such as data mining, clustering, forecasting, or recommendation/classification techniques.

• You ensure the accuracy of our data across various systems.

• You examine our data, present the findings in a comprehensible manner, and formulate concrete strategic actions.

• You collaborate closely with Product Management, Community Management, and the executive team, acting not as a detached observer, but as an engaged partner.

• You merge quantitative analysis with qualitative community feedback to facilitate informed decision-making.

• You implement best practices, including code reviews and thorough documentation.

• You will assume both technical and potentially managerial leadership of a small team, aiding in the development of your colleagues while structurally enhancing the area.

• In collaboration with the executive team, you will outline the long-term data strategy and foster a genuine data-driven culture within the organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• You possess a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a similar field.

• You are capable of not only analyzing data but also articulating it and converting insights into actionable value.

• You identify patterns, comprehend their business ramifications, and devise product-centric solutions rather than solely algorithmic ones.

• You effectively communicate complex relationships to non-technical stakeholders and present with confidence, even when challenging existing assumptions with data.

• You are motivated to take on responsibility—whether as a mentor, in project management, or through technical guidance. While formal management experience is advantageous, it is not mandatory.

• You quickly grasp concepts, work methodically, and enjoy analyzing large datasets, both structured and unstructured.

• You view AI (e.g., LLMs, copilots) as an essential component of contemporary work. You regularly utilize relevant tools and have ideas on how we can leverage AI for our data analyses or products.

• Proficient knowledge of SQL and Python (including frameworks like pandas and scikit-learn).

• Experience in statistical analysis and databases, alongside proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets for data preparation and visualization.

• Strong understanding of machine learning (forecasting, clustering, categorization) and deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow).

• Business-fluent German (minimum C1) and proficiency in English are essential.

• Preferred: familiarity with Java and Mixpanel.
