This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.
• Independently creating and managing statistical models that predict cash flows and other key indicators of business and customer health.
• Crafting and developing models that enhance our product offerings to better address our customers' needs.
• Actively investigating datasets to uncover insights and prototyping innovative methods that deliver measurable value for customers.
• Assuming complete ownership of the results from deployed models, including performance assessment, residual analysis, and iterative improvements, in close partnership with engineering.
• Guiding junior team members, elevating the technical standards through code and design reviews, and contributing to our data science best practices and long-term tooling strategy.
• Collaborating with engineering and data engineering to operationalize models, define data infrastructure needs, and strengthen our MLOps foundations.
• 4-7+ years of experience in developing and deploying machine learning or statistical models in a production setting (including relevant post-undergraduate academic work).
• Strong expertise in Python and the wider data science ecosystem (including NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn, etc.), along with high proficiency in SQL.
• Familiarity with cloud-based MLOps platforms (such as SageMaker, Vertex AI, or similar) and comfort in collaborating with engineering to deploy and oversee models in a production environment.
• Personal or professional experience with, or a keen interest in adopting, agentic development workflows and modern AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot, or similar).
• Solid understanding of probability, statistics, and machine learning, with the capability to select the appropriate tool for each challenge.
• Experience in credit risk modeling, underwriting, or other risk decision science areas like insurance is highly preferred.
• Ability to work across different functions and effectively communicate complex modeling decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Financial/Applied Math, Statistics, Economics, or a related technical field. A Master's or PhD is an advantage.
