Senior Data Platform Engineer – AI Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of performance tuning on the StarRocks serving layer utilizing AI-assisted query profiling.

• Develop and reinforce data pipelines that support government cloud investigations.

• Serve as a second independent operator of the GovCloud serving layer to mitigate single points of failure.

• Address production issues through AI-assisted debugging and log analysis.

• Manage and troubleshoot regulated, high-availability government cloud data infrastructure.

• Work in collaboration with Forward Deployed Engineering, Product, and the wider Data Platform organization.

• Engage in weekly incident and infrastructure reviews, asynchronous updates, sprint planning, and post-incident retrospectives.

• Ensure consistency between the government cloud environment and the commercial platform.

• Create backups, restore pipelines, compliance configurations, and operational runbooks.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is necessary due to government cloud data access requirements.

• Practical experience operating distributed OLAP or serving-layer systems such as StarRocks, Trino, ClickHouse, or equivalent.

• Proficiency in query tuning and performance optimization at scale.

• Experience in ensuring data pipeline reliability and managing incident responses.

• Comfort with AI tools like Claude, Cursor, or similar for debugging, code review, and documentation purposes.

• Capability to independently take charge of unfamiliar production infrastructure.

• Ability to leverage AI-assisted research and code exploration to quickly adapt.

• Readiness and capability to assume on-call responsibilities with minimal supervision.

• Applied AI fluency will be assessed during the interview process.
