Senior Data Engineer, Secret II Clearance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Developing robust, fault-tolerant, and efficient code for production-level data processing systems.

• Setting up and deploying Quantexa software utilizing tools such as Spark, Hadoop, Scala, and Elasticsearch, with our platform hosted on both private and public virtual clouds like Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and Amazon.

• Acting as a reliable source of expertise for clients, effectively communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience to facilitate their decision-making.

• Collaborating with our solution architects and R&D engineers to advocate for solutions and standards addressing complex big data challenges, while proactively encouraging knowledge sharing and adherence to best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• A background in hands-on technical development with a minimum of three years of industry experience in a data engineering position or equivalent, ideally with at least four years of experience in the software industry.

• Proficient in Scala, Java, Python, or any programming language related to data engineering. While our primary language is Scala, we value strong engineering principles that are universally applicable.

• Expertise in building and deploying production-level data processing batch systems with a solid understanding of high-quality, operationally stable systems, and the ability to streamline development, release, and operations.

• Experience with a range of modern development tools (e.g., Git, Gradle, Nexus) and technologies that support automation and DevOps (e.g., Jenkins, Docker, and some Bash scripting). Familiarity with a version-controlled development process that regularly utilizes these tools and technologies is essential.

• Strong technical communication skills demonstrated through experience in fast-paced client environments.

• Knowledge of testing libraries in common programming languages (like ScalaTest or similar), with an understanding of different test types (unit tests, integration tests) and the ability to provide specific examples of tests they have created.
