
Senior Data Engineer – Microsoft Fabric, Financial Data

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise data solutions for financial reporting, reserving, and claims management.
• Take ownership of critical claims data structures, transformation logic, business rules, bucketing logic, and control mechanisms.
• Create and sustain data pipelines, transformation processes, and reporting datasets utilizing SQL, Python, PySpark, Microsoft Fabric, or comparable cloud data platforms.
• Collaborate with Actuarial Reserving, Accounting Operations, Product, Claims, Financial Planning and Analysis, and other business teams to convert requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Lead and engage in end-user testing and evaluate downstream reporting impacts prior to production release.
• Automate reconciliations, exception monitoring, data quality assessments, and control processes.
• Analyze intricate business and data challenges and propose solutions that enhance reporting, decision-making, and operational efficiency.
• Review code, design, and testing activities.
• Offer technical guidance, coaching, and knowledge-sharing to peers and junior developers.
• Address production issues, investigate root causes, and implement enduring solutions.
• Identify opportunities to modernize tools, enhance data governance, and introduce efficient development practices.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, application development, business intelligence development, or a related technical discipline.
• Preferred 1–2 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric.
• Equivalent experience with Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Data Factory, Redshift, BigQuery, or similar cloud data platforms will be considered.
• Strong expertise in developing complex data transformation processes using SQL, Python, and/or PySpark.
• Experience in designing, building, and maintaining enterprise data pipelines, data models, data structures, and reporting datasets.
• Familiarity with financial, claims, premium, accounting, operational, or other complex business data.
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT development, data quality controls, reconciliation processes, and data governance principles.
• Experience collaborating directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements, clarify priorities, and deliver technical solutions.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities and produce high-quality solutions in a dynamic environment.
• Strong communication skills with the capacity to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Background investigation required.
• Generally must not need employment-based visa sponsorship.
