Senior Data Engineer – EU, EMEA

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Lead the design and advancement of our cloud-native data platform

• Concentrate on scalable batch processing, event-driven workflows, and seamless integration with backend microservices

• Engage across the entire data lifecycle — from ingestion to transformation to serving

• Design, construct, and take ownership of batch-oriented data pipelines and ETL workflows

• Partner with backend engineers to develop and enhance microservices that provide data capabilities through APIs

• Ensure data quality, lineage, and observability by implementing validation frameworks, monitoring, and alerting

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in data engineering, backend engineering, or a related hybrid role

• Extensive hands-on experience with AWS, including AWS Glue, AWS Lambda, AWS Step Functions, Amazon S3, Amazon Athena, and Amazon Redshift

• Proven experience in building batch data pipelines and ETL systems at scale

• Proficient programming skills in Java (for microservices development) and Python (for data pipelines and Glue jobs)

• Experience with containerized services and orchestration through Amazon ECS

• Familiarity with designing or operating within microservices architectures

• Knowledge of event-driven systems (e.g., SQS, EventBridge)

• Strong SQL capabilities and experience in optimizing analytical queries

• Experience with distributed processing frameworks (e.g., Spark via Glue)

• In-depth understanding of data modeling (both analytical and operational), partitioning and storage strategies, and performance tuning across various data systems
