This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany, +2 more countries.
• In the role of Senior Data Engineer, you will lead the comprehensive development of our essential data infrastructure through AI-native engineering.
• By advocating for our AI DevEx strategy, you will coordinate AI agents to swiftly construct, scale, and refine high-performance systems.
• You will be responsible for developing and steering the architecture of intricate data systems that emphasize scalability, reliability, and long-term sustainability.
• Your focus will be on designing and optimizing production-grade data pipelines, particularly emphasizing high-throughput, real-time streaming.
• You will implement Spec-Driven Development (SDD) utilizing OpenSpec or GitHub Spec Kit to establish strict engineering contracts that guarantee predictable, high-quality AI code generation.
• Orchestrating agentic AI workflows with Claude Code and the Model Context Protocol (MCP) will be part of your responsibilities to swiftly construct, refactor, and expand our data infrastructure.
• You will take full responsibility for system components, working independently to address complex technical challenges.
• Implementing stringent testing and monitoring frameworks will be essential to ensure the integrity of mission-critical data.
• You will mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of technical excellence through open feedback and architectural reviews.
• A minimum of 10 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years concentrated on Data Engineering.
• Extensive technical knowledge of Kafka (including Producers, Consumers, and Stream Processing) for constructing scalable, real-time architectures.
• Strong experience with OLAP databases, with particular expertise in Clickhouse being highly desirable.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for intricate data manipulation, optimization, and system construction.
• A willingness to engage in highly agentic AI-assisted development, specifically utilizing Claude Code to autonomously navigate codebases, perform multi-step engineering tasks, and expedite development cycles while maintaining high code quality.
• Solid hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Significant experience with open-source tools and technologies within the contemporary data stack.
• Excellent communication abilities and a preference for working in a transparent and feedback-driven environment.
• Proficiency in English.
