Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Italy.

📋 Description

• Create and implement high-quality, scalable data products that serve as a unified source of truth across a complex network of over 60 global sub-brands.

• Develop and enhance robust ETL/ELT pipelines to efficiently ingest and transform large volumes of both structured and unstructured data.

• Spearhead the design of secure and cost-effective data architectures.

• Establish comprehensive data governance frameworks, including lineage tracking, metadata management, and quality control measures.

• Serve as a strategic 'sparring partner' for Analytics, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence teams.

• Oversee and optimize data platforms to ensure peak performance.

• Guide junior team members and promote a culture of technical excellence.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in data engineering or data management.

• An advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in Computer Science, STEM, or a related quantitative discipline.

• Extensive hands-on experience with Databricks (including PySpark, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog).

• Expert-level SQL skills (including optimization and indexing) and a deep understanding of data modeling techniques (such as Dimensional, Star Schema, and Snowflake).

• Proficiency in at least one major cloud provider (such as AWS or GCP) along with modern orchestration tools like Airflow or dbt.

• Demonstrated experience managing data across various RDBMS platforms (including PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, etc.).

• Strong knowledge of Docker/Kubernetes along with a commitment to best practices in Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).

• Familiarity with data versioning, schema evolution, and distributed metadata management.
