Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Engage with extensive data sets and develop advanced data pipelines for both structured and semi-structured data.

• Partner with stakeholders to create scalable solutions.

• Oversee and enhance our internal data pipeline that serves marketing, customer success, and data science initiatives.

• Emphasize the ingestion, storage, processing, and analysis of large data sets.

• Act as a technical leader for PAR’s big data platform, which supports AI and BI products.

• Collaborate with infrastructure and operations teams to monitor and optimize the current infrastructure.

• Design and implement pipelines that extract, transform, and load data into information products that aid the organization in achieving its strategic objectives.

• Assist in defining data governance policies and support data versioning processes.

• Travel for business purposes may be necessary.

• Utilize AI tools to enhance the development of data pipelines, generate insights, and automate reporting to boost engineering productivity and decision-making.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience as a Senior Data Engineering professional, crafting scalable big data solutions.

• An advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• Proven expertise in data modeling and SQL within a Lakehouse architecture.

• Comprehensive understanding of cloud technologies, such as AWS and Azure.

• In-depth knowledge of big data technologies and programming languages (Python, Java), relational databases (Postgres, MySQL), NoSQL (MongoDB), and streaming technologies (Kafka, Spark).

• Experience with PySpark and Spark Streaming is essential.

• Familiarity with Databricks is required.

• Strong software engineering background with a thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle.

• Knowledge of GitHub and best practices in version control.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities with a proven track record in building and maintaining complex data pipelines.

• Outstanding communication skills with the capacity to explain complex concepts along with thoughtful, actionable recommendations.
