This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Cyprus, +6 more states.
• Design, construct, and maintain streaming data pipelines.
• Create custom ingestion pipelines from third-party APIs, webhooks, and SDKs.
• Transition existing data ingestion pipelines from SaaS platforms to the company’s infrastructure.
• Ensure data is delivered to the raw layer of the Snowflake warehouse with schema consistency, idempotency, and resilience against malformed or delayed data.
• Enhance the AWS streaming stack, which includes Kinesis, SQS, Lambda, and API Gateway, to improve cost efficiency, observability, and reliability.
• Manage Terraform infrastructure as code for ingestion and processing resources.
• Monitor pipelines, diagnose issues, and resolve incidents.
• Contribute to secure data access for AI agents and tools.
• Continuously refine ingestion architecture, tooling, and engineering practices.
• Make independent architectural decisions and review the work of peers.
• Take ownership of and oversee production systems.
• Over 5 years of professional Python experience in a backend or data engineering capacity.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems architecture, including load balancing, sharding, and the trade-offs between synchronous and asynchronous processing.
• Practical experience with cloud services, preferably AWS, including Lambda, API Gateway, and containers in ECS/EKS.
• Background in building streaming pipelines using Kinesis, SQS, or similar technologies.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code practices using Terraform or similar tools.
• Proficient in SQL, including the use of joins and window functions.
• Professional experience managing real-world production data, including messy, duplicated, delayed, or malformed inputs.
• Comprehensive understanding of data flow through production systems and how to prevent downstream issues.
• Operational mindset with comfort in owning and overseeing production systems.
• Capability to make independent architectural decisions and review the work of colleagues.
• Strong SQL and data modeling skills (preferred).
• Experience with Snowflake and dbt (preferred).
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect (preferred).
• Experience collaborating with analytics and product teams as a data provider (preferred).
• Background in handling sensitive or regulated data (preferred).
