Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Work in collaboration with the Team Lead and various cross-functional teams to collect and refine data requirements for Denials AI solutions.

• Design, implement, and enhance ETL/ELT pipelines utilizing Python, Dagster, DBT, and AWS data services, including Athena, Glue, and SQS.

• Create and maintain data models in PostgreSQL; write optimized SQL for querying and performance enhancement.

• Oversee the health and performance of pipelines; troubleshoot data incidents and apply preventive measures.

• Uphold data quality and governance standards, ensuring HIPAA compliance for the handling of PHI.

• Conduct code reviews, disseminate best practices, and provide mentorship to junior data engineers.

• Automate deployment and monitoring tasks using infrastructure-as-code along with AWS CloudWatch metrics and alarms.

• Document data workflows, schemas, and operational runbooks to facilitate team knowledge transfer.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Over 5 years of practical experience in building and managing production-grade data pipelines.

• Extensive experience with workflow orchestration tools (such as Dagster) and transformation frameworks (like DBT) or similar tools (including Microsoft SSIS, AWS Glue, Airflow).

• Proficient SQL skills on PostgreSQL for data modeling and query optimization, or in other comparable technologies (such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, AWS RDS).

• Working knowledge of AWS data services, including Athena, Glue, SQS, SNS, IAM, and CloudWatch.

• Basic proficiency in Python and Python data frameworks (such as Pandas, PySpark).

• Experience with version control systems (like GitHub) and CI/CD practices for data projects.

• Familiarity with healthcare data standards and HIPAA compliance.

• Experience in mentoring or leading small technical initiatives.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.

• Strong problem-solving and creative abilities, along with sound judgment to make decisions based on timely and accurate analyses.

• High integrity and reliability, coupled with a strong sense of urgency and a results-oriented mindset.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential.
