This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.
• Enhance a data platform that supports products catering to nearly 100M unique visitors each month.
• Architect, construct, and manage robust data pipelines from Postgres, MongoDB, event streams, and third-party APIs into the data warehouse.
• Make pragmatic architectural choices across the ingestion, storage, transformation, and serving layers.
• Lead the dbt project, focusing on structure, conventions, testing, documentation, and continuous integration.
• Manage and develop the semantic layer to ensure metrics are centrally governed and consistently utilized.
• Advocate for data cataloging, documentation, and comprehensive lineage tracking.
• Ensure data quality through testing, monitoring, alerting, lineage tracking, and service level agreements (SLAs).
• Enhance warehouse and columnar query performance.
• Collaborate with BI, Product, Development, Marketing, and Finance teams to create reusable data models.
• Mentor the broader BI/Data team through code reviews, collaborative work, and technical guidance.
• Provide insights on technology, development lifecycle, and processes.
• Take responsibility for code, tasks, and role-specific duties.
• Explore new technologies and continuously enhance the data platform.
• Senior-level experience as a Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, or a similar role in a large-scale environment.
• Expertise in PostgreSQL, including complex transformations, window functions, and performance optimization.
• Practical experience with a columnar/analytical database; ClickHouse is preferred, along with familiarity with BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake, or similar systems.
• Strong background in using AI and understanding best practices for AI utilization, including claude.md, hooks, skills, rules, MCPs, and plugins.
• Significant production experience with dbt, encompassing project structure, testing strategies, macros, and CI/CD processes.
• Familiarity with a semantic/metrics layer such as Cube.dev, dbt MetricFlow, LookML, or similar frameworks.
• Experience with data cataloging, documentation, and lineage tools like OpenMetadata, DataHub, or similar applications.
• Proficient in Python for data engineering tasks, including pipelines, scripting, APIs, and data manipulation.
• Production experience utilizing PostgreSQL and MongoDB as source systems, with knowledge of replication, change data capture (CDC), and schema evolution.
• Experience in designing and maintaining data warehouses and dimensional/analytical models.
• Comfortable with Git, code reviews, and applying modern software engineering practices to data projects.
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
• Collaborative approach to problem-solving within a team environment.
• Experience in mentoring junior engineers.
• Familiarity with exploring new technologies.
• Commitment to clean code and architecture principles in data projects.
• Enthusiasm for data testing, unit tests, and end-to-end verification.
• Results-oriented with a proactive "Can Do" work ethic.
