This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design and execute a scalable, secure, cloud-based data platform that supports operational data, reporting, and analytics.
• Engineer multi-tenant cloud environments that accommodate hybrid or on-premises systems, including SQL, NoSQL, IaaS, PaaS, distributed SQL, multimodal, and event-driven/streaming databases.
• Create and sustain dimensional data models for data marts and data products.
• Develop and manage downstream data marts, consumable data, ETL/ELT processes, reports, and dashboards.
• Build, deploy, and oversee data presentation and reports utilizing customer-preferred visualization or presentation tools.
• Support the Data and Technology Enabler Roadmap encompassing data engineering, reporting/analytics, and AI/ML use cases.
• Design and construct data ingestion and ETL/ELT pipelines that integrate multiple enterprise sources.
• Implement reusable data services that facilitate analytics, reporting, downstream data marts, and gold layers.
• Execute logical and physical data models in cloud platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or AWS Redshift.
• Write and maintain secure, testable code.
• Assist in operationalizing CMM Data Classification Standards, which includes workshops, security controls, metadata requirements, and system integration.
• Configure metadata structures, workflows, automation, and security settings.
• Develop training materials, job aids, and communications to support user adoption.
• Integrate data pipelines with cloud services, messaging, and storage components.
• Implement data quality checks, validations, and error handling.
• Enhance pipeline performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Support CI/CD deployments, automated testing, and promotions across environments.
• Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and sprint ceremonies.
• Resolve incidents and perform root cause analysis for data pipeline failures.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, workflows, STTMs, data models, design documents, and testing documents.
• Ensure all deliverables comply with federal security, governance, and audit standards.
• Collaborate with Agile scrum teams, including architects, DBAs, business analysts, QA personnel, Data Architecture, Data Governance, and Migration teams.
• Execute data migration, archival, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Deliver migration documentation for scripts, transformations, and validation results.
• Support failover testing and disaster recovery exercises.
• Implement operational databases, document storage solutions, indexing services, schemas, and secure data APIs using infrastructure as code.
• 7+ years of relevant experience.
• MA/MS degree with 5+ years of general experience and 5+ years of specialized experience, or BS/BA degree with 7+ years of general experience and 5+ years of specialized experience.
• Experience may be substituted for education: HS with 16+ years, AA/AS with 14+ years, BA/BS with 12+ years, or doctorate/Ph.D. with 9+ years.
• Proficiency in data engineering and data architecture design.
• Familiarity with system security best practices.
• Experience in building and migrating software and IT services to meet strategic business requirements.
• Background in researching advanced technologies to fulfill business needs.
• Experience with AWS data and compute services.
• Familiarity with data orchestration tools.
• Knowledge of cloud messaging and storage services.
• Proven experience in software and data engineering.
• Hands-on experience in constructing enterprise-scale data pipelines.
• Strong command of SQL, Python, and data transformation techniques.
• Experience developing on cloud-based data platforms.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Experience in regulated or compliance-driven environments.
• Support experience for data platforms or analytics programs.
• Hands-on experience with data platforms.
• Proficiency in ETL/ELT frameworks.
• Experience with streaming or near-real-time data ingestion.
• Knowledge of data governance, metadata, and classification standards.
• Experience mentoring junior data engineers.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with high-level customer stakeholders and nurture customer relationships.
• Experience in identifying and applying industry tools, solutions, methods, best practices, and emerging technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Capacity to formulate and communicate improvement recommendations.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Preferred certifications: Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Snowflake SnowPro Core, Databricks Certified Data Professional, AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, AWS Certified Data Engineer.
