Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, and sustain scalable backend services along with robust data pipelines.

• Spearhead the architecture and execution of a new company-wide data warehouse.

• Construct data models and partitioning strategies to optimize querying efficiency and performance at scale.

• Collaborate with analytics, IT engineering, and business teams to define and deliver high-quality data and backend solutions.

• Maintain and enhance database systems, primarily BigQuery, ensuring data integrity and high availability.

• Develop reliable ETL/ELT processes utilizing modern orchestration frameworks.

• Apply best practices regarding code quality, architecture, data governance, and operational excellence.

• Promote observability, monitoring, and optimization of backend and data services.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficiency in cloud environments (GCP, AWS) and cloud-native data services.

• Demonstrated experience in designing and constructing data warehouses (cloud-based or on-premises).

• Expertise in BigQuery and strong SQL capabilities for performance tuning and data modeling.

• Familiarity with structured data sources such as MySQL and managing semi-structured data including web traffic data, e.g., Google Analytics.

• Experience in designing and developing scalable data pipelines (ETL/ELT) using Dataform or DBT.

• Understanding of data partitioning strategies for processing large datasets.

• Strong knowledge of best practices in software and data engineering (unit testing, version control, CI/CD pipelines).

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Proven experience collaborating effectively with key stakeholders.
