Senior Data Engineer

Posted May 19

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Address critical data requirements for Flex: develop and sustain dependable pipelines and datasets that facilitate Flex models (such as demand/availability signals, aggregations, monitoring).

• Advance the data platform: evaluate the current setup and implement practical improvements in architecture, tools, and operational practices—guiding the evolution of the platform.

• Ensure data quality and reliability: establish testing, lineage/definitions, and guardrails (including dbt tests, anomaly detection, freshness checks) to ensure stakeholders can rely on outputs.

• Facilitate self-service analytics: create well-structured datasets and documentation that empower others to address inquiries independently without custom work.

• Collaborate on data science initiatives: work together on data preparedness for modeling, feature pipelines, evaluation workflows, and production concerns (even if you are not the main model builder).

• Make impactful technology decisions: recommend and justify modifications (or maintain the status quo) to tools and processes, leveraging experience to discern when to build, buy, or maintain existing solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong background in data engineering: you have developed or enhanced data pipelines/platforms in a production environment, preferably across various stages of a startup or scale-up.

• Practical platform approach: you can "enhance the aircraft while in flight" - implement incremental enhancements, manage trade-offs, and prioritize delivery over extensive platform rewrites.

• Ownership and initiative: you recognize what is important, drive tasks forward, and work effectively with a high degree of autonomy and minimal supervision.

• Proficient in SQL and data modeling: adept at designing datasets that are precise, maintainable, and beneficial for analytics/modeling.

• Reliability-focused: you prioritize monitoring, data quality, testing, and operational excellence.

• Effective communicator: you can engage with engineers, product teams, and business stakeholders, translating their needs into actionable data tasks.

🏝️ Benefits

• Opportunity to join and influence an early-stage climate tech startup with global ambitions as we expand.

• A mission-driven, enjoyable, and supportive environment characterized by high energy and ambition.

• Competitive salary, including an attractive employee stock option program - you become part of our journey.

• Remote-first setup in Europe, with the option to visit an office in Oslo or receive a co-working pass as needed.

• Three annual off-site events to connect with the team in exciting and enjoyable locations.

• Flexible, human-centric culture.

• Stipend for establishing your home office.
