Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain scalable frameworks for data and file ingestion.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional value stream teams, analysts, architects, testers, and business stakeholders to clarify data requirements and convert them into technical solutions.

• Construct and uphold Empower’s data infrastructure and data ingestion framework.

• Deploy scalable AWS cloud data solutions that facilitate data-driven reporting for the organization and external vendors.

• Enhance ingestion frameworks for optimal performance and reliability.

• Enforce data governance and security best practices.

• Diagnose data integrity and performance challenges.

• Engage in code reviews and uphold coding standards.

• Guide junior engineers and offer technical direction on complex projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 4–6 years of experience in data engineering with a focus on designing and implementing scalable ingestion frameworks.

• Expertise in ETL development and design utilizing Python, PySpark, Big Data, Hadoop/SPARK, and Snowflake.

• Strong proficiency in SQL.

• Experience with RDBMS using recognized databases such as Postgres, Redshift, or MySQL.

• Practical experience on the AWS platform, including DynamoDB, EMR Serverless, Lambdas, and related services.

• Comprehensive understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing principles.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.

• Familiarity with Agile methodology and Scrum processes.

• Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while leading junior engineers.

• 3+ years of IT experience in the financial sector or other highly regulated industries is preferred.

• Experience with JIRA in Agile development is an advantage.

• Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD best practices is a plus.

• Familiarity with QuickSight, Co-Pilot, or similar emerging technologies is desired.
