This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Saudi Arabia.
• Construct and manage scalable data pipelines and data products on a contemporary cloud data platform.
• Design, develop, and sustain scalable batch and streaming data pipelines within cloud ecosystems.
• Facilitate data ingestion from various sources, such as ERP, operational systems, IoT, files, and APIs.
• Create curated, analytics-ready datasets adhering to bronze/silver/gold (medallion) or similar layering methodologies.
• Develop dimensional, normalized, or data-vault models tailored to specific use cases.
• Employ partitioning, clustering, indexing, and strategies for storage optimization.
• Oversee schema evolution and ensure backward compatibility.
• Enhance pipelines for cost-effectiveness, performance, and adherence to SLA requirements.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability measures for data products.
• Utilize CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code methodologies for data workloads.
• Collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to create tailored data products.
• Document data pipelines, data contracts, and lineage; ensure compliance with data governance standards.
• 6–10+ years of experience in the field of data engineering.
• Extensive hands-on experience with modern data platforms, including:
• ◦ Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, Synapse, or similar.
• ◦ Spark (PySpark / Scala), Delta Lake, or Iceberg.
• Proficient in Python and SQL; familiarity with Scala or Java is an advantage.
• Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster, ADF, Step Functions).
• Practical experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Knowledge of streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis, Event Hubs).
• Strong foundation in data modeling, performance optimization, and cost management.
• Experience in sectors such as mining, metals, heavy industry, oil & gas, utilities, or other large industrial environments is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with IoT/sensor data, time-series workloads, and ERP (SAP) integration is greatly valued.
• Previous experience in the GCC or Saudi Arabia is beneficial.
• Understanding of data governance, lineage, classification, and access controls.
• Awareness of data privacy, handling of PII, and audit/regulatory requirements.
• Strong analytical skills and structured problem-solving abilities.
