Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Design, enhance, and manage stored procedures and SSRS reports throughout the ClubReady reporting ecosystem.

• Take ownership of the customer-facing Postgres data mart product catering to enterprise clients.

• Co-lead the transition from the legacy Go ETL to the updated Fivetran → Snowflake → dbt → Postgres pipeline, collaborating with the central data team.

• Act as a technical domain authority for supporting data mart customers.

• Diagnose and resolve data discrepancies reported by customers.

• Create Azure DevOps work items, review pull requests, and function within two-week sprints.

• Update and maintain the internal data dictionary as well as the external data documentation.

• Optimize queries and indexes on very large tables (multi-billion-row scale) where poor choices can lead to significant customer-visible costs.

• Participate in customer calls alongside enterprise account managers and customer-side data analysts to define and deliver projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in data engineering or BI development with extensive knowledge of T-SQL and SQL Server in a transactional, customer-facing setting.

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience.

• Hands-on experience with at least one analytics warehouse stack (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift) and modern ELT tools (dbt, Fivetran, Airbyte, or similar).

• Strong instincts for query performance: indexing strategies, execution plans, statistics, partitioning, and rewrite patterns for legacy procedures.

• Proficiency in SQL and at least one scripting language (Python preferred).

• Experience with SSRS or other enterprise reporting platforms.

• Proven ability to function as a senior individual contributor: manage scope from start to finish with minimal supervision.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Comfort in working directly with external customers and stakeholders, including finance teams, account managers, and customer-side analysts.
