This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, develop, and sustain a straightforward, efficient, and scalable data warehouse on Snowflake, featuring clean models, appropriately named fields, and comprehensive documentation to facilitate ease of use for downstream users and systems.
• Implement and oversee data transformation using dbt to ensure the reliability of well-tested data pipelines.
• Create and enhance data models, semantic layers, and metric definitions that cater to a broad spectrum of business requirements while maintaining data consistency and accuracy across the organization.
• Take ownership of data quality, observability, and testing to shield downstream consumers from erroneous or misleading data.
• Develop and improve internal AI tools (skills, agents, etc.) to enhance the effectiveness of the Data Engineering team.
• Collaborate with analysts, product engineers, and business stakeholders to comprehend their needs, outline suitable solutions, and deliver results.
• Guide analysts and colleagues, promoting a culture of learning, rigor, and continuous improvement.
• Actively identify operational challenges and suggest progressive solutions.
• Over 5 years of experience in data engineering, with a proven history of managing systems from start to finish.
• Proficient in SQL, Python, and data modeling, with strong opinions on design strategies and best practices.
• Practical experience with dbt and Snowflake.
• Familiarity with clickstream or event data.
• Proven ability to design and deploy scalable data systems.
• Comfortable utilizing AI tools (such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) in your daily tasks.
• Exceptional written communication skills — producing clear documentation, well-defined specifications, and the capability to convey technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong project ownership skills: defining requirements on the go, communicating trade-offs, and delivering results within set timelines.
• Ability to use abstraction to tackle complex problems.
• Experience in designing semantic layers, metric stores, or data contracts is preferred.
• Background in building A/B testing or experimentation frameworks is preferred.
• Experience in developing or contributing to internal AI tools — skills, agents is preferred.
