Senior Data Engineer – AI Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of performance optimization on the StarRocks serving layer by utilizing AI-assisted query profiling to pinpoint and resolve slow query patterns.

• Develop and strengthen data pipelines that support government cloud investigations.

• Become a secondary engineer capable of independently managing and troubleshooting the serving layer.

• Mitigate single points of failure and enhance incident response times within the GovCloud data infrastructure.

• Employ AI-assisted debugging and log analysis to address production issues and implement root-cause solutions.

• Engage in on-call duties, participate in weekly team meetings, provide asynchronous updates via Slack, partake in sprint planning, and contribute to incident retrospectives.

• Collaborate with Forward Deployed Engineering, Product teams, and the broader Data Platform organization.

• Ensure consistency between the government cloud environment and the commercial platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is mandatory due to access requirements for government cloud data.

• Practical experience with distributed OLAP or serving-layer systems like StarRocks, Trino, ClickHouse, or similar technologies.

• Proven expertise in query tuning and performance enhancement at scale.

• Experience in ensuring data pipeline reliability and managing incident responses.

• Proficiency in utilizing AI tools such as Claude, Cursor, or similar for debugging, code review, and documentation purposes.

• Capability to independently take charge of unfamiliar production infrastructure and quickly adapt through AI-assisted research and code exploration.

• Readiness and capability to assume on-call responsibilities with minimal supervision.

• Demonstrated applied AI fluency, to be assessed during the interview process.
