This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.
• Oversee the complete start-up and commissioning of electrical power systems in data centers, from initial pre-functional checks to Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and final handover.
• Create and manage the commissioning project plan, which encompasses scope, schedule, budget, risk register, and resource allocation.
• Act as the primary contact for all commissioning activities involving internal teams, customers, and contractors.
• Organize and supervise commissioning tasks related to: Medium and low voltage switchgear/switchboards, Transformers, Busway/bus duct, and protection relays and metering.
• Guarantee that commissioning is carried out in line with the owner's project specifications, design criteria, standards, and industry regulations (e.g., NFPA, IEEE, IEC, ASHRAE, Uptime).
• Evaluate and authorize commissioning scripts, test procedures, and method statements, ensuring that any deficiencies are documented, monitored, and resolved.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective measures for issues identified during L2-L4 commissioning and IST.
• Serve as the main point of contact between clients (including hyperscale cloud, enterprise, and colocation customers), EPCs, OEMs, Cx agents, and internal engineering/service teams.
• Conduct regular progress meetings and technical reviews to effectively communicate project status, risks, and recovery strategies.
• Foster strong professional relationships on-site and represent the company with confidence and professionalism.
• Promote a culture of "zero harm" safety at all commissioning sites, ensuring adherence to company and customer safety standards and procedures.
• Uphold quality standards, ensuring that all work is performed with the highest craftsmanship and reliability.
• Verify that all necessary documentation, test reports, as-builts, redlines, and turnover packages are accurate, complete, and delivered punctually.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive commissioning schedules that align with construction milestones and data center go-live timelines.
• Monitor costs, change orders, and earned value for commissioning projects; proactively manage deviations and opportunities.
• Provide consistent project updates to leadership and clients, including KPIs, risk/issue logs, punch lists, and lessons learned.
• Coordinate and direct multidisciplinary site teams, including field engineers, technicians, subcontractors, and third-party Cx agents.
• Mentor junior engineers and support staff on best practices in commissioning, documentation, and client communication.
• Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of standard commissioning procedures, templates, and tools.
• A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline; or a comparable combination of education and relevant experience.
• Over 7 years of experience managing complex technical projects, with a minimum of 3 years dedicated to the start-up and commissioning of power or MEP systems.
• Direct experience in data centers, critical facilities, or heavy industrial power distribution settings.
• Strong knowledge of electrical power systems (MV/LV), short circuit/coordination principles, protective relays, and critical power architecture (N, N+1, 2N).
• Proven experience with commissioning processes (levels 1–5), electrical acceptance testing, and integrated systems testing.
• Familiarity with EPMS/BMS, SCADA, and controls integration is an added advantage.
• Established history of managing scope, schedule, cost, risk, and stakeholder engagement on multi-million-dollar projects.
• Competence in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent) and the MS Office suite.
• Willingness and ability to travel to project locations (10-20% travel).
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, comfortable presenting to both technical and executive audiences.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
