Senior Data Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Guide the architectural process during the discovery phase by converting each client's business model, KPIs, and AI objectives into a comprehensive design and implementation strategy.

• Remain the design authority throughout the build phase, evaluating pipelines, models, and BI outputs from data and analytics engineers, while facilitating solutions for the team during challenging decisions.

• Create AI-ready data infrastructures, including semantic layers, feature stores, vector databases, and embeddings pipelines to ensure the reliable functioning of ML models, GenAI applications, and AI agents.

• Design comprehensive cloud platforms tailored for retail clients, encompassing ingestion, storage, transformation, modeling (dimensional, Data Vault, One Big Table, or the most suitable approach), BI, and CDP.

• Instill engineering rigor by default through automated pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, testing, and observability, ensuring each platform becomes increasingly cost-effective and dependable over time.

• Collaborate with Business Developers, Key Account Managers, and Strategists to co-sell solutions—crafting proposals, defending estimates, and presenting architectures to a diverse range of client stakeholders, from skeptical CTOs to non-technical executives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in data architecture, engineering leadership, or analytics engineering, with a proven track record of designing and delivering at least three cloud platforms—preferably in the retail or e-commerce sectors.

• Practical experience across the following stack. While you may not have expertise in every tool, you should possess in-depth knowledge of at least one from each category.

• A solid understanding of the data platform requirements for ML, GenAI, and AI agents—including feature stores, embeddings, vector databases, RAG, semantic layers, governance, and lineage. We seek a fast learner rather than someone who has merely used all seven.

• Familiarity with the BI and activation landscape—dimensional modeling, semantic layers, CDPs, identity resolution, consent management, and downstream activation into advertising, CRM, and personalization tools.

• Proficient spoken and written English is a must.
